'oh, your from zamboanga pala?hinde ba kayo natatakot everyday?'. this is one of the questions i encounter everytime i get to compete and represent the region on national competitions or even when i attend seminar/workshops during my high school days.
honestly speaking, i am sadden with the 'tagging' of other people. they perceive zamboanga city a chaotic place, where pandemonium always takes place.
one of the teleserye that showcase this 'tagging' is tayong dalawa, starred by kim chui, gerald anderson and jake cuenca. i concede to the fact that their storyline is about the never-ending clash between the government and some of the rebelious groups(i.e ASG, MILF or NPA). i also concede to their aim/purpose for delivering 'realistic' view of the status quo.
but, media is so influential...and sometimes leads to brainwashing people's minds. i condemn how they generalize zamboanga city, how they picture out our beloved city, how they identify zamboanga as a place where terrorists assemble and plan for their next agenda/victim, and how zamboanga city a place where bombings is just a usual scenario in our place.
i just hope, not maybe today but someday, they get to realize the beauty that our peninsula possess. a city rich in culture and a city where fun-loving people live.
and i hope peace will reign in our country especially in mindanao.
:)

yah.i've encounter some people who are thinking that Zamboanga is a chaotic place. And yah, i think i was able to watch that episode in tayong dalawa where there Zamboanga is featured something.Maybe that is why i only see tourists coming here sometimes.

ReplyDeleteI also experienced that.
ReplyDeleteWhen people questioned our city...I mean the 'security'
I agree... they perceive Zamboanga as a anarchic city.
yeah... in 'tayong dalawa'. I was kinda 'upset' about it
yeah
i hope that peace will govern
=))
I hate it when they say that Zamboanga is such a chaotic place! This city is not a meeting place for terrorists! X-(
ReplyDeleteBombings just don't exist in Zamboanga right? Its the fact that other cities are more of a mess!
I just hope people will realize this and discover the beauty of our city instead...
honestly, sometimes im a bit hurt already when they keep on asking about the security in Zamboanga, when clearly what they really mean amd want to say is that Zamboanga is a very chaotic place, though it is true, but it still hurts, because i live in Zamboanga, and you know the saying "truth hurts"...
ReplyDeleteOnce again, my nose keeps on bleeding when I read what you wrote.I experience the same questions as well. Its a little bit offensive but its a fact.
